At Forest City Chiropractic and Acupuncture, we strive to improve the overall health of every person we see, optimizing their ability to do everything they want in life, free of limitations. Our focus is on function-oriented care, helping you get back to doing the things you love—even if that’s what injured you in the first place. Dr. Jake Calder and Dr. Saxon Ireland work with our patients to help them heal and adapt, so they can live their best lives.
MEET THE DOCTORS
Our History
Our practice has been a chiropractic office for over 40 years. The previous owner, Dr. John Fleming, moved during the pandemic and Drs. Jake and Saxon have recently taken over the space. They’ve brightened it up and made it feel more modern, warm and welcoming for the individuals and families we see.
Dr. Jake and Dr. Saxon are a married team who met at chiropractic school—they both received their Doctor of Chiropractic degrees from New York Chiropractic College. Dr. Jake is from Connecticut, and they opened their practice in Middletown because of its central location, making it convenient for patients coming from Hartford or New Haven as well. Our practice is also just five minutes from their new home.
Function-Oriented Care
As athletes themselves, our doctors understand what it’s like to be sidelined, whether from a game or from your normal daily activities. We customize our care to each patient’s needs, focusing on restoring optimal function. For many, this can begin with pain relief. But lots of patients also come to us to optimize performance or enhance overall health, and we see patients from babies through senior citizens.
Dr. Jake is certified in Activator Methods®, which is a gentle, instrument-assisted adjusting technique. Dr. Saxon is certified in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture (Neurofunctional Acupuncture), which combines aspects of traditional Chinese acupuncture with modern evidence-based acupuncture techniques, including e-stim and dry needling. Dr. Saxon also has advanced training in prenatal care, including the Webster Technique.
